The Board also advises the Chancellor on the management and development of the university at Chapel Hill. Records include minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees, 1972-2011; meeting files, 1972-1999, which contain documents related to issues discussed at meetings but not recorded in the official minutes; and committee files, 1979-1980 and 1987-1988, which include records of the search committees responsible for identifying potential successors to Chancellors Taylor and Fordham.
